Amberley
This project involved the conversion and extension of a very nondescript 1950s detached house in a beautiful setting. The interior was designed in a contemporary minimalist style and large expanses of glass maximised the incredible view. The kitchen and dining spaces featured natural bamboo flooring with Italian designed kitchen complete with quartz work surfaces. The extensive terrace was paved with natural sandstone in a random pattern with clean cut lines. The beautifully laid sandstone was chosen for its natural array of soft, neutral colours.
It would have been difficult to have reinvented this very plain 1950s rendered property in a traditional style. Hence the design decision to give the property a very contemporary feel. To create space and light, internal walls were removed and new rooms were of very generous proportions, particularly the large kitchen/dining room with connecting sunken garden room.
The original house consisted of two receptions, a kitchen, three bedrooms and one bathroom. Once completed, there were three receptions, kitchen/dining room, garden room, five bedrooms and three bathrooms et cetera.
